As the epoxy is applied the metallic additive is suspended in the epoxy as it cures and levels out. This create beautiful flowing transitions of color. Our Metallic Designer Epoxy Flooring System offer excellent adhesion to various substrates. We also offer different top coat options for added strength and durability with a Polyaspartic top coat offer very high abrasion resistance, hot-tire pick up resistance, UV stability and excellent chemical resistance. This epoxy flooring system is designed for use where long-lasting monolithic protection of decorative substrates is required.

This garage floor was installed with a vapor barrier primer, then a solid light gray base coat. We then coated the floor with a clear 100% solid industrial epoxy with the color Titanium Metallic added to it. The floor was then top coated with a Polyaspartic coating for added protection.

This retirement community kitchen had an epoxy floor installed many years ago. The building was going through a remodel and decided to have the floors redone. ESR Decorative Concrete came in and removed the exiting epoxy floor. We then installed a epoxy flooring system with broadcast grip to create a slip resistant surface. We then top coated the epoxy with a polyaspartic coating to create an extremely hard surface that will hold up to heavy foot traffic and hot oils from the fryers. The polyaspartic coating allows for faster return to service times than epoxy flooring systems. The management crew where able to begin moving back in with ours after work was completed. This  new epoxy and polyaspartic coating flooring system created a seamless floor that will be easy to maintain and last for many years!

We removed the carpet in this home that was just purchased by our customer. We came in and patched a few various holes in the concrete that we found once removing the carpet. We also patched holes around the perimeter of the room created by removing the tack strips that held down the carpet. In order to not see these patched concrete areas we then installed a micro finish overlay. Concrete overlays allow us to resurface the concrete giving our concrete artists a new canvas to work with. The overlays that we install is polymer modified concrete that is extremely durable and accepts acid stain extremely well. Micro finish flooring systems that are acid stained often result in beautiful flowing transitions of color that resemble the look of marble with earth tone colors. These concrete floors are extremely easy to maintain and will last for years! Decorative concrete floors will outlast any other type of flooring system out there! We seal our custom projects with solvent based acrylic sealers to protect your floors finish. Acrylic sealers create a beautiful dept of color in your floors finish. This patio was your typical boring gray concrete slab. When it rained the patio became extremely slick. The home owner told us a story of their child’s friend running and slipping on the wet concrete sending them through their glass front door! Luckily all the broken glass did not cut the child and he came out unhurt from the slip! A great solution for smooth slippery concrete is a stamped concrete overlay! The texture of the concrete and a non slip compound that is added to our sealers creates a great profile that has better slip characteristics when compared to smooth concrete.

A stamped concrete overlay is a great way to resurface your existing concrete slab. We can come in and resurface your concrete to resemble many different shapes or patterns. Sticker Pull Repair – Dallas, TX

This floor was damaged from a sticker decal that pulled off the stain and sealer from the floor.This popular concert venue hosts big name bands and their floors receive large amounts of foot traffic every year. They utilize the easy to maintain and durability characteristics of decorative concrete floors. We came in and blended colors of the floor with some acrylics, buffed, and waxed the entire floor. We were able to successfully blend in the colors to hide the damaged acid stained floor and rejuvenate its finish. The management staff was so impressed with the work that we will be starting a complete remodel of their floors in 2012! We cant wait! Should be a fun project!

Acid Stain Repair Before and After

Technical terms for what causes tape pull with acrylic sealers -

All tapes have plastizers in them. The plasticizers migrate in order to bond to various types of surfaces. Blue tape has a lower degree of plastizers than standard masking tape or duct tape; but, when it comes to applying them directly over an acid stained and sealed surface (including those that are waxed), it still has the potential to cause “tape pull up” (even more so if the sealer was a low resin solid solvent or water based acrylic). Acid stain manufacturers market their formulations based on the ability to react with the concrete (as it does); however, many allude to their formulations deeply penetrating into the substrate that is not in fact the case; therefore, it becomes a chain reaction when tape is applied (wax bonds to the sealer, sealer is bonding to the concrete, with the acid stain probably not penetrating more than 1-2 mils (if even that, depending on the porosity and finish of the concrete itself) …the plasticizers in the tape fuse to the wax/sealer acid stain “or” sealer/acid stain (which is even more prone to tape pull up), resulting in the perfect image of where the tape was placed when it is pulled up (the longer the tape is left on the surface, especially if over 20-30 minutes, the more damage will be likely to occur).

 

Suggest you also refer to ASTM D3359-08 Standard Test Method for Measuring Adhesion by Tape Test … standard test used in the sealers, coatings, paints, etc industry to determine the degree of adhesion when tape has been applied to them under lab conditions over a specific period of time. Important note: certain formulations of sealers/coatings have a hiigher degree of adhesion and bond strength (such as 100% solids/high build epoxies, high solid aliphatic urethanes, and polyaspartic aliphatic polyureas). It must be kept in mind that the ASTM tests are performed over idential testing panels … not taking into account the rate of adhesion and bond strength as associated with concrete that may have varying degrees of profiles, porosity, possible contaminates from foreign matter (be it visible or invisable), may not have been properly prepared, actual integrity of the concrete itself may have been compromised in som way, or other site specific variables that will have a bearing on the “tape pull off (plasticierr) issue” as well.

A large apartment complex came to us with a big problem with their current epoxy floor.

The cheap retail store epoxy they had put down was easily coming off and this DIY job looked terrible with a very uneven chip broadcast. ESR Decorative Concrete to the rescue once again! We came in and completely removed the epoxy flooring. We then patched some holes in the concrete and treated a few surface cracks. The customer chose the “Dolphin” color epoxy flooring system. We then applied a two part epoxy primer / vapor barrier system for added protection from vapor transmission. We then applied out 100% solids industrial epoxy while broadcasting chips into the epoxy. This was then followed by a clear polyurethane topcoat for added protection.

The end result is a happy customer with a beautiful epoxy floor that will last for years! Do not be fooled by cheap “easy to use” retail epoxy flooring systems, they do NOT last and will create a large mess on your floor! Stamped Concrete Elegant Design Project Dallas, TX

Our beautiful custom engraved stamped concrete floor!

This balcony was covered in a ugly grey epoxy that was used to seal the surface.  The owner wanted to add a fresh new look to their balcony. Tile was their first thought but it was not a viably option, but decorative concrete was just the right fit for this customers needs! We came in and installed a stamped overlay with a tavertine texture. We scored a rectangle tile design throughout the balcony to resemble large pieces of stone. At each window or door way we then engraved custom designs. The pictures speak for themselves showing the beautiful designs that are engraved into this floor.
